Twenty-four sites at Spillway Campground provide access to hiking and fishing

Spillway Campground is located approximately ten miles southwest of the small town of Lake George, Colorado. Visitors may reach this campground by driving south on County Road 96 from Lake George to the dam spillway Elevenmile Canyon.

This campground consists of 24 individual family campsites. Each campsite includes a table, fire grate and parking spur. Drinking water, garbage collection and vault toilets are provided on site. The nearest public telephone is located in Lake George, about ten miles from the
campground. The nearest fire and emergency services are also located in Lake George.

The campground is located on the South Platte River within 21 miles of
Elevenmile State Recreation Area and Reservoir and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Recreation opportunities include: fishing (on the River's Gold Medal Waters) and the Reservoir; hiking, biking, horseback riding, motorcycling and four-wheel driving.

This one is my favorite, but it's the last one at the end of the road. I've probably stayed here 30 nights over the past 5 years. The dirt road has the washboard effect and can be pretty dusty. Careful for the fisherman along the road there are usually quite a few during the peak part of the season. The camp hosts are great and very friendly. During the summer months fire wood is delivered to the sites for bundles at $5 each. Conditions: The winds can pick up pretty good through the canyon so you may want to make sure your tent is secured. Also don't be surprised if a rain shower comes along in the evenings. There are pleanty of trees and some of the campsites are right next to the river. Great for flyfishing (fly/lure only at this part of the canyon) fall out of your bag and right into the waders. Water Availability: I always bring water with me when ever I go camping. Sometimes the water isn't the best quality. But There are 2 hand pumps at the campgrounds. Beautiful scenery, fishing on the river. Not especially private sites, but a great place for family fun. Conditions: Lots of skeeters and saw some big horn sheep. Water Availability: Water, toilets on site.
