Messenger Gulch Picnic Ground is a great place for fly and cast fishing on the South Platte River
Messenger Gulch Picnic Ground is located approximately 4 miles southwest of the small town of Lake George, Colorado. Visitors may reach it by taking County Road 96 south from Lake George for 4 miles to Elevenmile Canyon.

The picnic ground consists of 2 sites. Both include a table and a fire
grate. The facilities include one vault toilet. This picnic ground is located on the South Platte River within 21 miles of Elevenmile State Recreation Area and Reservoir, and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Recreation opportunities include: fishing (on the River's Gold Medal Waters) and the Reservoir; hiking, biking, horseback riding, motorcycling and four-wheel driving.

Directions from Lake George: Messenger Gulch Picnic Ground is located approximately 4 miles southwest of the small town of Lake George, Colorado. Visitors may reach it by taking County Road 96 south from Lake George for 4 miles to Elevenmile Canyon
