Weston Pass Campground is located approximately 16 miles southwest of the town of Fairplay, Colorado. This campground consists of 14 individual family campsites. Each campsite includes a table, fire grate and parking spur. Drinking water and vault toilets are available on site. There is no garbage collection service so please pack out everything you pack in to the campground. The nearest public telephone is located in Fairplay 16 miles from the campground. The nearest fire and emergency services are also located in Fairplay.There is excellent fishing in the South Fork of the South Platte River, which
runs adjacent to the campground. The area also offers hiking, biking,
horseback riding, motorcycling and four-wheel driving opportunities.
Directions from Fairplay: Weston Pass Campground is located approximately 16 miles southwest of the town of Fairplay, Colorado. Visitors may reach the site by taking State Highway 285 south out of Fairplay for approximately 5 miles to County Road 5. Travel west on County Road 5 for approximately 7 miles to County Road 22. Take County Road 22 another 4 miles and the campground will be on the left.

Report: This campground is a bit off the highway, the road was in good shape for the most part. The campground is surrounded by tall pines, so the view is extremely limited, but it does protect you from the wind. It was fairly empty, and sight 12 was nice enoght with no neighbors. 11 is a walk-in tent site, closer to the water (and bugs). I don't kow if i would come back to the campground, after we set up and went up the pass further we found lots of better dispersed campgrounds (free) and the 10.00 fee at the official campground was way not worth the conditions. The top of Weston pass is easy to get to, and has GREAT views. The jeep road 161 is short and easy. Mountain Biking is no good, it's in the middle of the Wilderness Area, so bikers keep going. Hiking with kids was nice, easy trails out of the campground.
Conditions: Although there is a sign that says 'no horses' our site was full of horse crap. The site is really dusty, and the fireplaces are worthless. I took a hint from some previous camper and enlarged the open side with the many rocks lying around to be able to use my firewood. The bugs were TERRIBLE. The flies were so bad during the middle of the day I couldn't even go outside. Fishing in the beaver ponds was good, I caught a few nice little brookies on just my second and third cast. (use a lightweight casting rod and panther martins in the after noon)
Water Availability: The well is not close to the sites, it is out at the turn off across a bridge, and it was yellow...drinkable, but as I had recently had a bug, I did not want to try it out.

Report: Fairly remote, very secluded & beautiful. Saw lots of wildlife. Drive up pass was enjoyable. A bit of a drive off the highway but worth it. Nice hiking trails.
Conditions: shady spaots, used the bug spray, easy access to restrooms

Report: i found weston pass to be one of the top five camp grounds in colorado . i love quiet and beautiful unspoiled places . so far i have visited 27 primative camp grounds in co.
Conditions: late may , a little snow, a little wet but worth the effort,road a bit slippery
Water Availability: brought my own , also brought a quart of clorox and an eye dropper

Report: Enjoyed camping the weekend before the 4th. Very buggy, so bring the DEET. Trash cans are available near the vault toilets that were pretty ripe. There is a $10/night fee. Overall worth the price. Site 11 offers the most seclusion. Check out the 12 mile loop via the Rich Creek Trail. Don't drive to the trailhead 1 mile down the road. You can get to the trail from the campground by the pay station.
