Buffalo Springs Campground is located approximately 13 miles south of the town of Fairplay, Colorado. This campground consists of 17 family campsites. They each include a table, fire grate and parking spur. Drinking water, garbage collection and vault toilets are available on site. The nearest public telephone is located in Fairplay, about 13 miles from the campground. The nearest fire and emergency services are also located in Fairplay. The campground is located adjacent to the newly designated Buffalo Peaks Wilderness. This 40,000+ acre wilderness has a wide variety of terrain and vegetation types, from steep rocky slopes to high mountain meadows and deep canyons. This campground is also within ten miles of Antero Reservoir and State Wildlife Area. There is fishing on the South Fork of the South Platte River, which runs into the reservoir, as well as fishing on the reservoir. In addition, there are numerous hiking, biking, horseback riding and motorcycling trails available.
