This is a good trail for accessing the Colorado Trail at Beaver Ponds Picnic Ground and at Georgia Pass. The trail provides a good opportunity for day hiking and a loop trip is possible by hiking on the Colorado Trail. Water is available at Lodgepole Campground, Aspen Campground and Jefferson Creek Campground.
There are several points for accessing West Jefferson Trail. It begins in the northwest end of Lodgepole Campground. It continues on the west side of Jefferson Creek past the Beaverpond Picnic Ground into Jefferson Creek Campground. From Jefferson Creek Campground the trail follows an old logging road past a Forest Service gate. At the developed stream crossing the road becomes a hiking trail. From this point the trail is easy to follow to Georgia Pass.
