Georgia Pass is located on the Continental Divide at the north end of the Park Mountain Range. Georgia Pass was one of the first transportation routes to the Breckenridge area during the region's gold discovery era. However, both Hoosier and Boreas Pass proved to be easier access routes and Georgia Pass was soon abandoned. The pass provides travelers with spectacular views of South Park. Mt. Guyot lies to the west of the pass on the Continental Divide. Today the Colorado Trail leads across Georgia Pass. This pass is open from June until October, weather dependent.
Directions from Fairplay: From Fairplay drive north on Highway 285 for 16 miles to the small town of Jefferson. Turn left on to County Road 35. Continue driving until you reach County Road 54, which will turn into Forest Road 54. The dirt road to the top of Georgia Pass is relatively accessible with a passenger vehicle, however; to continue onto the western portion of the mountain, four-wheel drive, high-clearance vehicles are recommended.
