General Description

The North Rampart Range General Forest Area is located south of Sedalia on the Rampart Range Road. The recreation opportunities center around the motorcycle and off-road vehicle use. Users have access to 4 campgrounds and 3 picnic grounds.

The Rampart Range Road was constructed in the 1930s by CCC crews and is one of the most popular scenic drives in the Pike National Forest. Visitors enjoy a wide variety of recreation opportunities along the route.

Directions from Sedalia: The Rampart Range Road is accessible by traveling south from Sedalia on Highway 67 to the Indian Creek Junction. The Rampart Range Road, Forest Developed Road 300, begins at the Indian Creek Junction.

Devil's Head Campground - The Devil's Head Campground consists of 21 individual family campsites, that include a table, fire ring and parking spur. The Devil's Head Trail attracts many visitors and leaves from the campground.

Devil's Head Lookout Trail - The Devil's Head Lookout Trail begins in the picnic area adjacent to Devil's Head Campground and ends at the last fire lookout for the Pike National Forest.

Devil's Head Picnic Ground - Devil's Head Picnic Ground provides 10 picnic units, which include tables, drinking water and toilets, at an elevation of 8,700'. The focus of recreational activity at Devils Head is hiking and motorcycling.

Flat Rocks Campground - The Flat Rocks Campground consist of 20 individual family campsites, that include a table, fire ring and parking spur. Many visitors use this site for access to the Rampart Range Motorcycle Area.

Indian Creek Campground - The Indian Creek Campground consists of 11 individual family campsites that each include a table, fire ring, and parking spur. The extensive network of motorized trails attracts many visitors to this sight.

Jackson Creek Campground - The Jackson Creek Campground consists of ten individual family campsites, that include a table, fire ring and parking spur. The predominate recreational activity on the Rampart Range is off-highway vehicle use.

Topaz Point Picnic Ground - The Topaz Point Picnic Ground includes 5 picnic areas with tables, fire grates and toilets. There is no drinking water available. Users of this site usually focus on motorcycling or hiking.
