The Rampart Range Motorized Trail System is located in the South Platte Ranger District of the Pike National Forest. It contains 115 miles of trail that are used throughout the year. The trails provide a full range of difficulty for all types of users. The area has a high level of use during the summer months so trail etiquette is important knowledge for everyone that recreates in the area. This trail system was developed to meet an increasing public demand for a variety of recreation uses such as 4 WD, ATV, dirt bike, horseback riding and hiking. All state and federal regulations regarding all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes will be enforced. The National Forest Service challenges all off-highway vehicle (OHV) users to TREAD LIGHTLY on public lands. This program educates and informs forest users on how to enjoy recreation opportunities without damaging resources or negatively affecting others enjoyment of public lands. Potential damage to our natural environment is intensified due to increasing popularity of OHVs. (This category of vehicles includes 4 WD, ATVs, dirt bikes, mountain bikes and snowmobiles.) Directions from Sedalia: The Rampart Range Road is accessible by traveling south from Sedalia on Highway 67 to the Indian Creek Junction. The Rampart Range Road, Forest Developed Road 300, begins at the Indian Creek Junction.
