General Description

Cabin Canyon Campground is 4 miles upstream from Bradfield campground, on the Dolores River at Lone Dome. The campground has 11 sites, all barrier-free, with hand pumps for water. There is a concrete barrier-free trail next to the campground, along the river. There is a dump station 1/10 of a mile east of the campground. This area is northwest of McPhee Dam.

Forest Road 475 is a short four-wheel drive road that's great for mountain biking and walking. It begins north of the campground; the four-wheel drive portion lasts little more than a mile before becoming an improved dirt road. There is a whole network of improved dirt roads in the area north of the campground.

Directions from Dolores, Colorado: Travel northwest for 34 miles on Highway 184, U.S. Highway 666, Forest Road 505, and Forest Road 504.

Currently closed. Located in the Lone Dome area, below McPhee Dam. Access from Bradfield Bridge, turn right on Forest Rd. 504 and head four miles upriver. Cabin Canyon Picnic Ground - Cabin Canyon Picnic Ground is 4 miles upstream from Bradfield Campground, on the Dolores River at Lone Dome, northwest of McPhee Dam.

Cayton Picnic Ground - Because of Cayton's easy access to Colorado Hwy. 145 and Dolores River, this area is very popular. There is plenty of fishing along the river, but it may be crowded on summer weekends.
