General Description

McPhee Recreation Complex, on the south side of McPhee Reservoir, has the most modern camping facilities on the forest. The complex has 76 sites on two loops and have paved access and parking. There are showers, flush toilets, a sanitary dumping station, grills, fire pits, drinking water, asphalt roads, campground hosts, and 16 sites with electric hookups. Two sites have tables and toilets which accommodate wheelchairs. Twelve sites are walk-ins with tent pads near scenic overlooks. Only Piñon Loop sites may be reserved through the Reservation Center.

Directions from Dolores, Colorado: Travel south on Highway 145 and west on Highway 184 for about 7 miles to County Road 25. Turn north off this road and into the McPhee Recreation area complex on Forest Road 271.

Open for season. Fee $12 per night. Electricity is $3 extra. 5 spaces have full hookups for $5 extra. Located on south shore of McPhee Reservoir. Follow the signs on Colorado Highway 145, seven miles west of Dolores. The campground is on a mesa overlooking the reservoir. Flush toilets, sanitary dumping station 16 sites with electrical hookups.
