General Description

A graveled parking area and toilet are located at Sage Hen . Sail boating and row boating are permitted in this part of McPhee Reservoir.

Another part of the reservoir can be accessed on Forest Road 500 and 500A. These roads are primitive and can only accommodate high clearance vehicles, ATVs and motorcycles. The road should be avoided by everyone when it is wet.

Directions from Dolores, Colorado: Travel west on Colorado Hwy 145 for 2 miles, then turn right on Colorado Hwy 184 for 4.5 miles. Turn right on County Road 25 for 1.75 miles to County Road X. Turn right on County Road X for 1.0 mile to access point.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Accessible: Early Spring through Late Fall (NOTE: Lake is extremely low, water level below the Sage Hen area. Access Road 500 is closed for wildlife protection from 12/01-3/31.) .
