This loop trail is suitable for a short day hike. The elevation rise is not dramatic and the abundant aspen, oak brush, conifer forest, which passes a spring at one point, offers a pleasant hiking experience. There are no grand vistas though at one point you do look across to Stoner Mesa. Elk and mule deer are the more prevalent forms of wildlife in the area. Several species of birds also nest in the vicinity.
Horses and trail bikes have access to this trail. Winter enthusiasts might venture here for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing though the trail might be difficult to locate with heavy snow.
Directions from Dolores, Colorado: The Goble trailhead is located by taking Colorado State Hwy 145 north, then turning left (north) onto Forest Service Road 535.
