General Description

Dramatic views of Sultan Mountain to the north and the Animas River Gorge and Weminuche Wilderness to the east. There are restrooms available during the warm months. Interpretive signs give mountain names and tell short tales of geology and history. The views, information and pure air are well worth a fifteen minute stop.

Directions from Durango, Colorado: Travel north on U.S. Highway 550 for 39 miles.

Directions from Silverton, Colorado: Travel south on U.S. Highway 550 for 6 miles.

East Lime Creek Group Picnic Ground - East Lime Creek Picnic Ground is just south of Molas Pass adjacent to U.S. Highway 550. With two tables and toilets, the picnic ground is a convenient rest stop for travelers.

East Lime Creek Picnic Ground - This picnic area is located south of Molas Pass at an elevation of 10,000 feet. There are two sites and toilets available; fires are permitted.
