This trail follows Forest Road 724 to the top of Middle Mountain, the length is approximately 11 miles and it climbs to 10,800 feet in elevation. Near the top of Middle Mountain there are numerous points to stop and view surrounding high mountain peaks. This is a scenic trip. The road is not marked by signs.
Directions from Bayfield, Colorado: Take County Road 501 north for 19 miles to Forest Road 724. This road is known locally as Middle Mountain Road.
