Pass Trail provides the quickest access to Engineer Mountain. It climbs above the highway up moderate switchbacks. From there, it is a gradual climb up to the base of Engineer Mountain. Much of the trail is through the heavily wooded northern slope where snow can linger into the summer.
Toward the top, the trail breaks out into some beautiful alpine meadows at the base of Engineer Mountain. If you want to keep going you can follow the Engineer Mountain Trail north towards Jura Knob. You can also use Coal Creek or Deer Creek Trails to make a nice loop trip.
