Graysill Trail

Directions from Durango, Colorado: 30 miles north of Durango on U.S. Highway 550, turn west on the Cascade dirt road (frontage access sign). This road eventually turns to 4WD but there is a little cul-de-sac area just past the flume where some parking is available. If continuing, follow the dirt road approximately 3/4 of a mile to a red gate before a cabin on the right. Open the gate and follow the road until it dead ends at the trailhead. Follow Cascade Creek Trail to the Graysill Junction.

Engine Creek Trail - Getting to the trail involves a bit of hiking, so planning an overnight is helpful. There is a good campsite at timberline with great views.

Haviland Lake - Haviland Lake Fishing site is a scenic area located about one mile off U.S. Highway 550. Fishing can be good and row boating is permissible.

Haviland Lake Campground - Haviland Lake Campground has scenic and convenient campsites a mile off of U.S. 550. With the Hermosa Cliffs in the background, morning views across the reservoir are memorable.

Sig Creek Campground - Sig Creek Campground is six miles west of the Purgatory resort, on the Hermosa Park Road (Forest Road 578). Nine sites on four acres sit on a south-facing hillside about 0.25 mile from the East Fork of Hermosa Creek.
