Public access to the trail requires hikers to wade the Florida River. There is a private bridge about 1/2 mile north of the parking area. Remember to ask permission before crossing private property. The trail is very steep for the first 1.5 miles with about a 1,200 foot rise in elevation as the trail reaches Horse Thief Park on the top of Missionary Ridge. The trail is heavily used during the hunting seasons.
