General Description

This is a short trail which provides access to the Lake of the Woods, located several miles north of Trappers Lake. Lake of the Woods offers fishing. After crossing the White River, you enter the Flat Tops Wilderness for the final 1/4 mile of trail. The trail goes through stands of beetle killed spruce, so please be careful.

Directions from Meeker: Lake of the Woods Trail is located 47 miles east of Meeker. Take State Highway 13 east out of Meeker for one mile; turn right on County Road 8 for 39 miles to the Trappers Lake Road turn right for 7 miles to the Lake of the Woods Trial. Half of mile below Skinny Fish Creek.

Boulder Lake Trail - This trail begins at Himes Peak Campground, along the North Fork of the White River. It takes you across the White River by foot bridge, enters the Flat Tops Wilderness, and then follows along Big Fish Creek.

Himes Peak Campground - The Himes Peak Campground is located 47 miles east of Meeker, along the North Fork of the White River, at an elevation of 9,500 feet.

Lake of the Woods - The Lake of the Woods offers fishing for Cutthroat Trout, Brook Trout, and Rainbow Trout.

Skinny Fish- McGinnis Trail - Skinny Fish-McGinnis Trail leads from the Trappers Lake Road,up Skinny Fish Creek past the Lost Lakes trail head and eventually forks to either Skinny Fish Lake or McGinnis Lake.
