Fishing in Savage Lakes is good for brook and lake trout

The Upper Fryingpan General Forest Area consists of the region east of Ruedi Reservoir. It provides access to numerous recreation opportunities both on land and water. Several campgrounds are accessible in this general forest area. Recreation opportunities include biking, boating, camping, cross-country skiing, hiking, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.
Directions from Basalt: From Basalt (Hwy. 82) turn north on to Fryingpan River road travel approximately 25 miles to reach Ruedi Reservoir.

Normal Summer Season:
May through September
(NOTE: Snow may obstruct some trails that reach high elevations in the Spring and Fall months.)
