The lower Frying Pan River, several miles upstream from its' confluence with the Roaring Fork

The Lower Fryingpan General Forest Area consists of the region west of Ruedi Reservoir. It provides access to numerous recreation opportunities both on land and water. Several campgrounds are accessible in this general forest area. Recreation opportunities include biking, boating, camping, cross-country skiing, hiking, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.

Directions from Basalt: From Basalt (Hwy. 82) turn north on to Fryingpan River road travel approximately 25 miles to reach Ruedi Reservoir.

Seasonal Information:
Normal Winter Season: November through April (NOTE: Snow conditions may vary. Contact the ranger district office for current information.) . Normal Summer Season: May through September (NOTE: Snow may obstruct trails and roads at higher elevations in the Spring and Fall months.) .
