The Fourmile general forest area provides access to recreation opportunities such as four-wheel driving, hiking, mountain biking, motorcycle riding, and snowmobiling. Most of the trails in this area are unmaintained, so a topographic map of the area is a good thing to have as well as information from the Sopris Ranger District Office. It is located southwest of Glenwood Springs and west of Carbondale.
Directions from Glenwood Springs: From Glenwood Springs take Highway 82 until you reach Highway 117 south. From Highway 117 you can gain access to Sunlight ski area . Highway 117 forks immediately before you reach the ski area. The left fork leads to the ski area. The right fork is road #300 which leads to Fourmile Park and the rest of the Fourmile general forest area.
