Chapman Group Picnic Ground is located adjacent to the Fryingpan River. If you are an angler, the lower Fryingpan is classified as a gold medal water by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Chapman Dam is a small scenic reservoir located within the adjacent campground. The campground and picnic ground is located in a beautiful setting. It is at the base of a wide valley and is surrounded by, and filled with, lodgepole pine trees. It is located about 29 miles east of Basalt at an elevation of 8,800 ft.
