General Description

The trail goes through areas of lush vegetation. Large, dense stands of trees make it a beautiful area to hike through, and also provide the opportunity to spot wildlife. Lily Lake trail has three ridges it crosses which make it seem longer than it actually is. It is not maintained and can be very difficult to find in places. Lily Lake Trail is mostly in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness area and is heavily used by horseback riders.

Directions from Carbondale: Travel south on Hwy. 133 for 17 miles past Carbondale to Redstone. At the north end of Redstone take the 4WD road to the east past the town's water plant to the East Creek trailhead, approximately a half mile from town. Travel up East Creek a half mile to the right fork onto Lily Lake trail.

Seasonal Information:
Normal Summer Season: Memorial Day Weekend through October (NOTE: The Lily Lake Trail is accessible during the Summer months for hiking and horseback riding.) . Normal Winter Season: Late November through March (NOTE: The Lily Lake Trail is accessible during the Winter months for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.) .
