Broken Rib Spring area along the Coffee Pot Road
|
The Coffee Pot General Forest Area is accessed by the scenic Coffee Pot Road. Most of the higher elevations are made up of high mountain meadows broken by stands of aspen and spruce/fir. The lower elevations drop into Gambel's oak and Piñon/juniper covered hillsides. The area provides panoramic views of many of the northern and central Colorado mountain ranges. Coffee Pot Spring Campground is the only developed campground in the immediate area but there are four more on up the Coffee Pot road. One highlight of the area is the Deep Creek Overlook. Recreation Opportunities in the area include but are not limited to camping, hiking, horseback riding, four-wheel driving, and scenic driving.
