NATURAL FEATURES Supply Basin Campground is located on a small lake just to the south of Heart Lake. It is situated at 10,760 feet in a sparse spruce/fir forest with some subalpine meadows.FACILITIES Supply Basin Campground is the highest elevation campground on the Eagle Ranger District. It has seven partially shaded sites, all of which are on the lake's edge. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring grill. Only two of the sites could accommodate a small trailer or R. V. (under the length of 25 feet). One vault toilet is located centrally. There is no trash disposal or drinking water. Broken Rib Spring located 11 miles back down the Coffee Pot Road, FDR 600, is a good source, but it is not regularly tested by the Forest Service. ATTRACTIONS: FISHING - Nearby Heart Lake, 480 acres, has brook trout which are regularly stocked by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Bank fishing is difficult because of a shallow shoreline. Fishing from small boats is best, but fishermen are reminded that gas-powered motors are not permitted on Heart Lake. 4-WHEEL DRIVE ROADS - There are a number of 4-Wheel Drive roads for use by jeeps, ATVs and motorcycles around the Deep Lake and Heart Lake areas. FDR 618, 632, 641, 642, 643, 644 and 645 are all popular. Please stay on the roads. The subalpine meadows are fragile and do not recover quickly from off-road use.
