FACILITIES
Kline's Folly Campground is the smallest campground on the Eagle Ranger District with only 4 sites at the edge of a small lake in an open meadow. There is a small parking area and the sites are just beyond it, designated with a picnic table and a fire ring grill. There is no place for RVs or vehicles with trailers. Drinking water and trash disposal are not available. Water may be obtained from the Broken Rib Spring 10.5 miles back down the Coffee Pot Road, FDR 600, but the Forest Service would like to remind visitors that this water is not tested regularly. There is one vault toilet on site.

ATTRACTIONS:
4-WHEEL DRIVE ROADS - There are a number of 4-wheel drive roads for use by
jeeps, ATVs and motorcycles around the Heart Lake and Deep Lake areas. FDR 618, 632, 641, 642, 643, 644 and 645 are all popular. Please stay on the roads. The subalpine meadows are fragile and do not readily recover from off-road driving.

FISHING - Nearby Heart Lake, 480 acres, has brook trout which are regularly
stocked by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Bank fishing is difficult because of a shallow shoreline. Fishing from small boats is best, but fishermen are reminded that gas-powered motors are not allowed on Heart Lake.

Directions from Eagle: Travel 12 miles west of Eagle on I-70 to the Dotsero exit. Turn north onto the Colorado River Road for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto the Coffee Pot Road, FDR 600 for 28 miles. Then turn left onto FDR 601 for 1/2 mile. Turn left at the sign onto FDR 601. Kline's Folly Campground is just 1/2 mile down this road.

Directions from Vail: Travel 43 miles west on I-70 to the Dotsero exit. Turn north onto the Colorado River Road for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto the Coffee Pot Road, FDR 600 for 28 miles. Then turn left onto FDR 601 for 1/2 mile. Turn left at the sign onto FDR 601. Kline's Folly Campground is just 1/2 mile down this road.

Directions from Beaver Creek: Travel 34 miles west on I-70 to the Dotsero exit. Turn north onto the Colorado River Road for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto the Coffee Pot Road, FDR 600 for 28 miles. Then turn left onto FDR 601 for 1/2 mile. Turn left at the sign onto FDR 601. Kline's Folly Campground is just 1/2 mile down this road.

Deep Lake - Deep Lake is a natural 37 acre lake at an elevation of 10,462 feet. Nonmotorized boats and boats with electric motors are permitted on this cold water lake.

Deep Creek General Forest Area - The Deep Creek General Forest Area is located northwest of Eagle on the southern end of the Flat Tops Wilderness. The area is accessed mainly by the Coffee Pot Road.

Deep Lake/Heart Lake Loop Four-Wheel Drive Road - This series of four wheel drive roads travel through the Deep Lake and Heart Lake areas on the Flat Tops, northwest of Dotsero.

Heart Lake - 480 acre Heart Lake sits on the Flat Tops, northwest of Eagle, at an elevation of 10,708 feet.

The Flat Tops Area - The area discussed here consists of the south end of the Flat Tops, accessed by the Coffee Pot Road, which provides a vast area for multiple outdoor recreation activities.

Upper Short Creek Trail - This trail is located in the Deep Lake area of the Flat Tops.

Wagonwheel Trail - This Flat Tops trail travels down Wagonwheel Creek ending at Budges Resort, on the South Fork of the White River.
