AREA DESCRIPTION Nolan Lake at 11, 240 feet elevation is surrounded by the beautiful sharply-pointed granite peaks of Craig Peak (11,902 feet) to the south and west. This small 7.2 acre glacial tarn within the Holy Cross Wilderness has sparse stands of spruce and fir with wet meadows full of wildflowers to its east side. The ridge of smooth granite rocks to the south offer an incredible view of Fulford and the snowcapped Gore Range beyond. Camping is permitted near the lake, but be sure to camp at least 100 feet away form the water's edge. FISHING OPPORTUNITIES Nolan Lake receives light bank fishing pressure for the existing brook trout population. Water level fluctuation is slight. The maximum depth is 12 feet with a shoal area of 85%. Brook trout reproduction is occurring, therefore this lake is not stocked.
Directions from Eagle: To reach the trailhead for Nolan Lake, follow Brush Creek Road 10 miles south of Eagle. Turn left at the Y onto East Brush Creek Road, FDR 415. Drive 6 miles, going past Yeoman Park then following the road as it curves left sharply uphill. Wind up the hill for approximately 4 more miles until reaching the trailhead.Nolan Lake is accessed by foot travel only up the Nolan Lake Trail (#1898). This 3 mile trail ascends 1360 feet up into the Holy Cross Wilderness Area. The trailhead is on the right side, just past the road to Fulford. There is some parking on the left side of the road. No facilities exist at the trailhead.

Turn left and follow Brush Creek Road 10 miles south of Eagle. Turn left on East Brush Creek Road, FDR 415.
