General Description

McDonald Flats Campground and Green Mountain Reservoir

McDonald Flats Campground is located north of Silverthorne, along the west side of Green Mountain Reservoir. The campground is first-come, first-serve. A campground fee and an additional vehicle fee is charged when water is available.

Facilities:

McDonald Flats has 13 campsites with a total capacity of 65 people. It has vault toilets, water, and garbage service.

Directions from Silverthorne: Go 14 miles north on Hwy. 9. Turn left onto FDR 30. Go 2 miles to the campground on the right (east) side of the road.

Directions from Beaver Creek: Travel 38 miles east on I-70 to Silverthorne. From Silverthorne go 14 miles north on Hwy. 9. Turn left onto FDR 30. Go 2 miles to the campground on the right (east) side of the road.

Directions from Vail: Travel 29 miles east on I-70 to Silverthorne. From Silverthorne go 14 miles north on Hwy. 9. Turn left onto FDR 30. Go 2 miles to the campground on the right (east) side of the road.

Seasonal Information:
Normal Services Available: Mid-May through Early October (NOTE: Service schedule will be reduced after Labor Day. Garbage service will be available as long as there is a fee charged. If a reduction in services occurs, a reduction in fees may coincide.) .

Report: This campground is great if all you care about is fishing or boating, and don't mind where you sleep. The campground is undeveloped with no trees and the sites are very close to each other, however the outhouses are clean and the sites are level, including a fire ring and a picnic table. Gas/food/beer/bait are available at a mom & pop store about a mile north along the reservoir
Conditions: Dry and clear.. noise travels at this campground, so you can hear traffic noise and music from across the reservoir. This campground is near the south (narrow end) of Green Mountain
Water Availability: Bring your own drinking water, none available
