Tenmile Creek General Forest Area

General Description

The Tenmile Creek General Forest Area includes Tenmile Canyon, the east side of Vail Pass, and the Copper Mountain area. There are no campgrounds in the immediate area, however, there are several nearby around Dillon Reservoir. Some of the recreation attractions in the area include the south end of the Eagle's Nest Wilderness, the Vail Pass/Tenmile Canyon Bike Trail, Tenmile Creek, Miner's Creek Trail, and Copper Mountain Resort.

Directions from Silverthorne: Travel southwest along I-70 past Frisco to the Tenmile Creek Area.

Directions from Vail: Travel 19 miles east on I-70 to Copper Mountain to access the Tenmile Creek area.

Directions from Beaver Creek: Travel 28 miles east on I-70 to Copper Mountain to access the Tenmile Creek area.

Eagles Nest Wilderness Area-Dillon side - The Eagles Nest Wilderness straddles the Gore Range, to the west of Silverthorne. The western portion of the wilderness area lies in the Holy Cross Ranger District and the eastern portion lies in the Dillon Ranger District.

Miners Creek Trail - Miners Creek trail stretches from Frisco, up along the top of the Tenmile Range, then down to Copper Mountain. It can be accessed at either end.

Searle Pass Trail - Searle Pass is located south of Copper Mountain. This trail provides access into the beautiful and little used back country area between Vail and Fremont Pass.

Vail Pass Trail - The Vail Pass Trail is a paved recreation trail. It runs from Vail, over Vail Pass to Copper Mountain, where it links to the Tenmile Trail.

Wheeler National Recreation Trail - The Wheeler National Recreation Trail leads from McCullough Gulch, south of Breckenridge, over the Tenmile Range to Copper Mountain.
