Snake River General Forest Area

General Description

The Snake River General Forest Area is located southeast of Silverthorne. It includes the Snake River drainage, the area around Keystone, Montezuma, and the Arapaho Basin and Keystone ski areas. Most of the recreation attractions in the area are accessed by Highway 6 and Forest Road 5. There are no campgrounds in this area but Lowry and Prospector campgrounds are nearby at Dillon Reservoir.

Directions from Silverthorne: Go east on Highway 6 toward Keystone and Loveland Pass.

Directions from Beaver Creek: Travel 38 miles east on I-70 to Silverthorne. Turn right in Silverthorne and travel east on US Highway 6 toward Keystone and Loveland Pass.

Directions from Vail: Travel 29 miles east on I-70 to Silverthorne. Turn right in Silverthorne and travel east on US Highway 6 toward Keystone and Loveland Pass.
