The Peaks Trail is a popular mountain bike route. The trial also offers a relatively easy hike connecting the towns of Breckenridge and Frisco, along the lower portions of the Tenmile Range. Except for the portion next to Miners Creek, the trail follows contour most of the distance. You may wish to travel from Breckenridge to Frisco to take advantage of the downhill into Frisco.This trail also makes an excellent horse trip.
Directions from Frisco: Although there are many starting points for the Peaks Trail from Frisco, this is the easiest to find and has the best parking. Take I-70 to the Frisco Main Street exit (#201). Turn toward town (east). Immediately past the interchange and before you cross Tenmile Creek is a parking area to the right (south). Park and cross the foot bridge. Turn left and walk along the bike path for about 1/2 mile (roughly Second Street). Look across the opening for the blue diamond marker.
Directions from Breckenridge: Take Ski Hill road (CR #3) west off Main Street in Breckenridge (stop light in the middle of town). Drive past the Peak 8 Ski Area for approx. 1/2 mile. The trailhead will be on the left side up a small embankment.
Directions from Vail: Travel 25 miles east on I-70 to the first Frisco exit (#201). Although there are many starting points for the Peaks Trail from Frisco, this is the easiest to find and has the best parking. Turn toward town (east).
