The Ute Pass Trail begins north of Silverthorne on Ute Pass. The trail offers one of the best views of the Gore Range available. The trial to Ute Peak becomes slightly steeper and less obvious toward timberline. This trial has limited water availability. The trip could be continued over the top of Ute Peak to the Acorn Creek Trail. This junction may be unsigned. The junction is approx. 1 miles south of Ute Peak, on the ridge.The final 200 yards to the top of Ute Peak are not suitable for horse use as this is a steep scramble.
Directions from Silverthorne: Drive 12 miles north Highway 9 to the Ute Pass Road. Follow this road to the large parking area just west of the cattle guard at the top of the pass. The trail heads southerly across a small open "park." If unable to locate the trial follow the steel fence post markers. Leave the gate locked due to cattle grazing in the area.
