Attractions and Considerations:The trail will fork at approx. 0.5 miles, the lower fork will take you below caved-in tunnel openings and a up hill access road to Masontown, the upper fork will take you directly to Masontown (choose one route on the trip up and the other on the return). The trail is a gradual climb up to Masontown, and becomes steep from Masontown to the summit. As you near the top, there will be another fork in the trail. The right hand fork goes to the Mt. Royal summit. The left spur continues for a half mile to a high point on the ridge below Peak One. Masontown was an old mining town that was wiped out by an avalanche. Please leave all historical items for others to enjoy.
