General Description

TRAIL BEGINS: On Shoal Creek, about 1 1/2 miles west of the Riling Draw entrance.

TRAIL ENDS: On Forest Road #30519 Jack Pine Summer Home road in the Jackson Ranger District.

ATTRACTIONS: This trail offers open parks and good views of the Gros Ventre Range. There is one ford of the creek, which is not difficult. NOTE: All but the very beginning and end of trail in the Shoal Creek Wilderness Study Area.

Directions from US Hwy. 191-189, Hoback Canyon, Alternate #2: From US Hwy. 191-189 go west of Kozy Campground about 1 1/2 miles to Granite Creek, road #30500. Go north about 6 miles to the Jack Pine summer home road #30519. The trailhead is about 1/2 mile south, on the east side of the summer home road, just past the 3rd house on the left. Not marked.

Directions from US Hwy. 191-189, Hoback Canyon, Alternate #1: From US Hwy. 191-189 about 1 mile northwest of Hoback Guard Station, go northeast on Forest Road #30600 and turn north into Riling Draw, about a quarter-mile northeast of the entrance to the Little Jenny Ranch. NOTE this road is open to all public use from May 1 to Nov. 14 only. Continue to the large clear-cut, and just before a long incline take the fork to the left. Go down to the creek and ford it. On the other side is Shoal Creek trail #119. Go west about 1 1/2 miles to the trailhead.
