General Description

TRAIL BEGINS: On US Hwy. 191-189 about 1/4 mile SE of Hoback Guard Station.

TRAIL ENDS: On Forest Road #30710 (Kilgore Creek road).

ATTRACTIONS: This trail has good open views of the Cliff Creek cliffs, the Gros Ventre and Wind River ranges and occasionally the Tetons. Monument Ridge Lookout, no longer in use, is in fair condition and provides wind and weather protection. Water and grazing are not available on the trail, but they are at the very beginning and the end.

NOTE: Motorized use is permitted up Sandy Marshall Creek, Clark Draw and north to the lookout tower. North of the lookout, motorized travel is prohibited.

Directions from US Hwy. 191-189, Hoback Canyon: Go west on the two-track road (closed to motor vehicles) about 1/4 mile southeast of the Hoback Ranger Station. Take care in the first two miles to watch the topo map, because cattle paths have confused the trail. Alternately, turn south at the electronic site about 2 miles southeast of Bondurant . Park anywhere between here and Clark Draw, keeping in mind that the climb up to Monument Ridge is badly eroded and not recommended for car travel.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Accessible: June through October .
