General Description

LOCATION: Northern shore of Lower Slide Lake. Approximately 18 miles northeast of Jackson.

ATTRACTIONS: Lower Slide Lake offers boating, fishing, and wind surfing. The Gros Ventre Slide Geological Area and interpretive trail are located 1.5 miles to the west.

FACILITIES: Tables, grills, fire rings, water, toilets, boat ramp and parking.

Directions from Jackson: Follow U.S. Highway 191 north to Gros Ventre Junction. Turn right and proceed past Kelly to intersection with the Gros Ventre Road. Turn right again and follow road 5.5 miles to the campground entrance at Lower Slide Lake.

Normal Services Available: Early June through Late October (NOTE: The operating season is the period water and/or garbage services are provided and fees charged. Outside the operating season, non-highway campgrounds are usable, unless inaccessible due to snow. No fees are charged or services provided.) .

Horsetail Creek Trail - This trail offers access to Slate Creek and Ditch Creek drainages. It begins on the north side of Gros Ventre road 2 miles east of Atherton Campground and ends at the Carmichael Fork of Slate Creek.
