General Description

TRAIL BEGINS: Intersection of 4WD road up Cottonwood Creek (#30410) and Sohare Creek.

TRAIL ENDS: On Buffalo Ranger District at bridge across South Fork of Spread Creek, near McMichael Draw.

ATTRACTIONS: This trail is a connection between Cottonwood Creek and Spread Creek drainages. It begins at the mouth of Sohare Creek and ends at the bridge across South Fork of Spread Creek near McMichael Draw.

Directions from Jackson: ACCESS 1: Follow road past the bridge over the river at Upper Slide Lake to Gunsight Pass junction. Bear right and follow main road into Cottonwood Creek drainage. Bear left at Cottonwood Creek/Fish Creek junction and follow jeep road along Cottonwood Creek roughly 4 miles to Sohare Creek (road fords creek in two places).

ACCESS 2: Follow Hwy. 191 north to Moran Jct. Head east on Hwy. 26 east to Hatchet Motel. Turn right on Hatchet Road and follow to South Fork of Spread Creek Road. Follow South Fork Road to intersection with closed (gated) road headed east across creek. Trail follows closed logging road for first several miles.
