North Fork of Fish Creek Trail

TRAIL ENDS: Moccasin Basin

ATTRACTIONS: This trail is a connection between Fish Creek and Moccasin Basin.

Caution: portions of the access road are very rough and subject to washouts and flooding during rainstorms. It may not be passable to motor vehicles. It becomes treacherous when wet so get out if it looks like rain is coming.

Directions from Jackson: Follow Hwy. 191 north and make a right on Gros Ventre Road. Follow Gros Ventre Road east past the bridge over the river at Upper Slide Lake to Gunsight Pass junction. Bear right and follow main road into Cottonwood Creek drainage. Bear left at Cottonwood Creek/Fish Creek junction and follow jeep road along Cottonwood Creek roughly 2 miles to fork leading up over ridge to the east. Continue on this road over ridge and down into the Fish Creek drainage past Deer Creek to major fork in stream.

Directions from Hwy. 287, 28 miles east of Moran Jct.: Trail may also be accessed from north end via road ending at gate near Pilot Knob and Moccassin Basin.

Normally Accessible: June through October .

Dog Creek Trail (#3104) - This trail is a connection between Cottonwood Creek and Fish Creek drainages. It begins at Cottonwood Creek near its confluence with Sohare and Dog Creeks and it ends at the North Fork of Fish Creek.

Fish Creek Trail - Although this trail is steep after the first mile, it is a quick way to the WRNRT. There is excellent big game habitat and alpine meadows.

Red Creek Trail - This trail is a connection between Cottonwood Creek and Fish Creek drainages. It begins at the North Fork of Fish Creek Road at the mouth of Red Creek and it ends at Cottonwood Creek.

Sheridan Trail - This is an historic route that connects Fish Creek drainage and the east side of divide.
