General Description

The Butler Fork Trail begins on the north side of Big Cottonwood Canyon Road and follows a path along a creek for about 1/2 mile. There is a junction in the trail; Butler Fork Trail continues on the right fork to junction with the Desolation Trail, and Mill A Basin Trail follows on the left fork. A "loop" hike is accessible by taking the Butler Fork Trail to the Desolation Trail; head west to the Mill A Basin Trail junction, and back to the starting point. Total distance is about 7.0 miles.

Directions from Salt Lake City: Follow Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (7000 South Wasatch Blvd.) about 8.2 miles up the canyon.About 0.6 mile west of Jordan Pines Campground area.
