General Description

Located southwest of Apache Saddle beneath the shade of pinyon pine, Toad Springs Campground has five sites with fire rings and primitive toilets. Sites are first-come, first-served; entrance road is graded dirt. Hiking opportunities available.

Directions from Taft, CA: Travel 8 miles south on Highway 33. Continue south for 9 miles after Highway 33 joins Highway 166. Turn southeast onto Cerro Nordeste Road and drive on this road for about 18 miles then turn south onto FS 9N09 (Quatal Canyon Road), the campground is within half a mile.

Report: The drive was great, close to LA(only 2 hours away) and perfect for a one nighter... Not one other family was encountered and here it is next to LA. That is the great part...
Conditions: The weather was freezing, at night it got down to 32 degrees-now that is how adventure stories start... The fact that there no toilets-just gross, not even pit toilets, subsequently there were toilet paper piles everywhere, probably will not go back because of this reason :((
