General Description

Cold Springs Trail is moderately used and located on the lower southern slopes of Mt. Adams. The trail descends through lava flows and young forests, forming an access route between Gotchen Creek Trail #40 and Cold Springs Camp located near the timberline on Mt. Adams. The trail features wildflowers and the A.G. Aiken Lava Flow.

Directions from Trout Lake: Travel north on Forest Route 23 to Forest Route 80. Follow 80 north to the forest boundary. Continue on 80 north past the Wicky Creek Shelter until 80 becomes Forest Route 8040. Follow 8040 until it becomes Forest Route 500. Take 500 to the Cold Springs Campground where the trailhead is located.
