General Description

A narrow tread, steep side slopes, and rocky, rugged terrain make Horseshoe Ridge trail a challenging one. The first access point is one mile east from West Creek on Siouxon Trail #130. The trail climbs steeply south for 1.5 miles, through a dense second-growth forest, to Horseshoe Ridge. A fire lookout was once located on the northwestern end of the 3,495-foot summit. Continuing east on the ridge, the trail then intersects Forest Route 320. From Horseshoe Ridge the trail drops steeply into Siouxon Canyon, passing through huckleberries and bear grass. The trail rejoins Siouxon Trail approximately three miles past West Creek.

Directions from Amboy: Travel north on State Highway 503 for approximately four miles to Forest Route 54. Follow 54 east to the forest boundary (about 8-9 miles). Continue on 54 east to Forest Route 57. Follow 57 east to Forest Route 5704. Follow 5704 east until it mergers with Forest Route 58. Continue on 58 east to the trailhead of the Siouxon trail #130. Horseshoe ridge trail can be accessed at two separate points on the Siouxon trail #130.
