Report: Terrific place to take kids! Our campsite was next to a gravel bar on the North Fork Skykomish River, lots of enormous rocks to play on and wading in the river (wear sandals, very rocky). Short, easy hikes in the woods, alongside Troublesome Creek, which empties into the Skykomish, but very beautiful and we only saw a few people. Kids enjoyed the bridge over the creek built on a large fallen tree. We also happened to be there during a summer weekend when Smokey Bear made an appearance with Forest Service personnel who gave a brief lecture and then had Smokey put out a fire from a flare. They handed out free pencils, books, etc. and showed everyone the fire truck. Took pics of kids with Smokey. Lots of fun.
Conditions: Our first day there it rained hard and spots in the site had standing water, but the resident couple who manage the campground work pretty hard to minimize standing water in sites. They are also very available, informative and helpful. Campsites are kept clean. Not a lot of privacy, but campsites are spaced well apart.
Water Availability: The only water is from an old fashioned hand pump that the kids had a blast using.
