General Description

Target Meadows is a designated snow-play area and is located about 2 miles from the work center. This area is very popular because of it's large, flat meadow. Vault toilets are available at the Target Meadows Campgrounds.

Continuing beyond the Target Meadows turnoff is the McIntyre Loop. This is a very scenic trail that offers excellent views of the Walla Walla Valley. On clear days, Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams can be seen. During bad weather this trail tends to drift and fog settles on the ridge making visibility poor. This trail does go through sections of private property so be sure to stay on the trail. Both trails are groomed weekly.

All snowmobile trails on the Walla Walla Ranger District are groomed and maintained by the Oregon State Snowmobile Association. They are marked with an orange diamond. With the Tollgate Work as a starting point, the orange diamonds are on the right side of the trail going away from the work center, and returning the diamonds are on the left side of the trail. Junction signs, which include directions and mileage, are located at most trail intersections.

Directions from Weston: Along Highway 204 there are several places to access the Tollgate Area trail system. The trails are described with the starting point at the Tollgate Work Center, which is located 20 miles east of Weston, or 21 miles north of Elgin, just of Highway 204. Parking for this trail system is located at several Sno-Park areas along Highway 204.
