Echo Basin Trail is a moderate 2 mile loop at an elevation of 4,200 feet. The attraction to this trail is the old-growth Alaska yellow cedar scattered along the trail- probably the largest trees of this species in the area.
After leaving the cedars, you break out into a natural amphitheater made of an open wet meadow surrounded by basin headwalls. Late spring visitors will witness a colorful array of wildflowers. New boardwalks through we meadows have been added to protect sensitive plants.
Directions from Sweet Home: Travel east on Hwy. #20 approximately 37 miles to Forest Road 055 and turn left. Travel 2.1 miles to the trailhead.
