General Description

Houston Recreation Area is located on a fork of Lewis Smith Lake, east of Double Springs. This is a large and popular recreation area where camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming and hiking are available in the area.

The picnic area has 14 individual family sites with tables and grills as well as 1 picnic shelter with a grill. This area is open from 7 AM to 10 PM and has flush toilets. Some sites are handicapped accessible.

Directions from Double Springs: Travel east on Hwy. 278, then turn right (south) onto County Rd 63. At Houston veer right and stay on County Rd 63. Turn right (west) onto Forest Rd 118. You will see signs for the recreation area.
