Airey Lake Recreation Area serves as a trail camp for the Tuxachanie National Recreation Hiking Trail. The trail passes near the lake and the Airey Fire Tower is located about 1/2 mile away. The three-acre lake site provides camping, picnicking, and fishing for bass, bream, white perch, and catfish. Hunting for deer, squirrel, turkey and other game is available next to the lake. Facilities include five camping/picnic units, toilets, drinking water, and a hiking trail. No user fees are charged.
Handicapped Accessibility: The terrain in this area is generally flat but it does have some gentle slopes. Camping/picnicking sites are not surfaced or leveled, and they do not have accessible tables or grills. The drinking water spigot is surrounded by landscape timbers and filled with large gravel, making it inaccessible. The toilets are not accessible. The levee nest to Airey Lake is hard packed and grass covered and can serve as an access route for individuals interested in fishing. Overall, this area is not handicapped accessible.
Directions from Wiggins: Take Highway 49 to Saucier. Take Highway 67 east to four-way intersection, turn north on County Road 412, and travel approximately three miles to Airey Lake.
