Ashe Lake is a shallow, 8 acre lake south of Hattiesburg, near Brooklyn and the Ashe Nursery. Ashe Lake was originally built to provide water for the Forest Service tree nursery (Ashe Nursery). The deepest part of the lake is about 15 feet deep. Visitors may catch bass, bream, catfish or carp. Facilities includes picnic tables, fire rings, pit toilets and a small land pier. No user fees are charged.Handicapped Accessible: The picnic tables, fire rings, and pit toilets are not accessible. There are no access routes. One parking space near the land pier is useable. The land pier is useable and has a hard packed, level surface. Overall, this area is not accessible.
Directions from Hattiesburg: Take U.S. Highway 49 south to Brooklyn. Take Forest Service Road 319 south to 308. Turn west on 308, and go 1/4 mile to Ashe Lake.
