General Description

Located in the scenic Boston Mountain Ranger District close to the western border in the northern part of the state, the visitor will be assaulted with scenic vistas and spectacular fall colors. Dogwood, redbud and other flowering trees and plants show off their best as well, during the spring blooming season.

Picnicking is limited to only 4 family units, but include vault toilets, and a sheltered vista.

Directions from Ozark: Take Arkansas Hwy. 23 (paved) north for 17 miles, turn left (west) on Forest Service Road 1003 (gravel) for 4 miles. The intersection of Forest Service Road 1003 is one mile south of Cass.

Ozark Highlands Trail - Located in the northwestern area of the state, the Ozark Highlands Trail is a 165 mile hiking trail that crosses the Ozark National Forest and is recognized as one of the most scenic trails in the United States.

Shores Lake Campground - This beautiful lake sits in a wooded area in the northwestern portion of Arkansas, close to White Rock and Grey's Spring. This 82-acre lake in a mountain setting offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities.

Shores Lake/White Rock Loop Trail - Located in the northwestern portion of the state, this loop trail connects two popular Forest Service recreation areas: Shores Lake and White Rock Mountain. It offers an excellent weekend hike up a beautiful creek.

Trap 125 Pond - Trap 125 Pond is 4 acres in size and contains the fish that were shipped out of Cold Springs Lake when Cold Springs was drained for repairs.

White Rock Campground - With rugged mountain scenery as a backdrop, this area, located in the Northwestern portion of the state, has spectacular bluffs which encircle the mountain rim trails and offer panoramic views. This area also provides access to the Ozark Highlands Trail.
