General Description

The trail begins from the White Ledge Campground picnic area where it starts on an upward climb to the southeast ridge of Carter Ledge. You will notice Middle Sister Trail bearing to the right. This trail takes you directly to Blue Mountain Summit 2,520 feet. You will also notice Nickerson Ledge Trail enters to the left which is a link trail over to Piper Trail and Camp Penacook. As you approach the second mile of the hike it makes a steady climb up a rocky slope offering a beautiful view of Mt. Chocorua. This route carries you into one of the three jack pine stands within White Mountain National Forest. The trail narrows and becomes even steeper (slippery when wet) as it approaches the upper junction with Middle Sister Trail at 3.7 miles.

Directions from Conway, NH: Travel south on SR 16 about 5 miles passing through the tiny burg of Albany. Enter White Ledge Campground. The trail begins from the campground picnic area.

Middle Sister Trail - This trail begins along the lower section of Carter Ledge Trail, stretches up to Blue Mountain then farther up to its terminus at Champney Falls Trail.

Osgood Trail - Osgood Trail leads to Osgood Junction, elevation 4,822 feet and to Mt. Madison, 5,366 feet.

Piper Trail - This is one of the heaviest used trail in White Mountain National Forest. It leads to the heights of Mt. Chocorua Scenic Area.

White Ledge Campground - White Ledge Campground offers access into the Mt. Chocorua Scenic Area and access to fishing opportunities at Iona Lake and Whitton Pond.
